30. Severn Bridge run. (One day)
Weather Report
As with previous years, the first run of the season will be a gallop around the Wye valley area. Usual start point at the Severn Bridge Services (Aust) on the south side of the old bridge, M48, between Bristol and Chepstow. Location Map: The run will be lead, as usual, by Doc Hacker, probably with Lorinda directing him from the back sat. Meet at 10am to leave at 11am prompt.

5 / 6 Northern Service weekend. (Doncaster)
Weather Report
This is the opportunity for members in the northern area to get an 'Engine Service' on their Fudge (FJ1100 or FJ1200) by Doc. He will adjust valve clearances, balance carbs, replace plugs and air filter (nb: No oil changes) for a labour charge of £70 + parts. For FJR pilots, he can offer to balance fuel injection system for smoother running for £30. As in previous times, Kerry and Mark have kindly offered use of the garage at their home in Doncaster.

Oulton Park sees the start of The Forgotten Era racing year on 12 April, whereby the FJ Racing Team will be turning out in force. Perhaps the start of year in which Phil takes the Championship, or maybe another FJ member?

There is a camp site booked for the night of Saturday 12 April at The Bell Inn, Cross Houses, near Shrewsbury. This is situated on the Shrewsbury to Bridgnorth Road four miles south of the County town. The Bell Inn also does Bed and Breakfast. Telephone number 01743 761264. Meeting at the services on the north end of the A49 Leominster By Pass. Location Map: This run will be a day run only around the black and white villages of Herefordshire. This mystery tour lead by Steve ‘Penguin’ is replacing the Rutland run that Barry and Sally can no longer lead due to other commitments.

From 01-04.05.2008 (Thu-Sun) an international meeting with participants from all over Europe will be held in 57392 Schmallenberg in the Sauerland. We are offering you, like during spring meeting 2004 in Olpe, beside a perfect location, events and entertainment as well as good food. The beautiful landscape of the Sauerland in the heart of Germany will be there for rides for free. We have prepared a lot – Come along and be surprised! We will stay at a youth hostel (exclusive for that meeting), where rooms will be shared between members, please indicate your preferred roommates on application. Another stunning run led by the Pope not for the faint hearted this one as both runs will be three hundred plus miles around quiet little used roads in the north of Scotland. Our base once again, is the old town of Pitlochry found on the A9 just north of Perth. Pitlochry has an abundance of Bed and Breakfast establishments and hotels. The meeting place for both runs will be the Tourist Information Office Car Park. Meeting times to be arranged with Pope. Weather Report:
A late spring gallop around the delights of Devon’s back roads led by local stalwart Ali Paisley. Excellent Camping facilities are available at the Kennford International Campsite. Site location: This is located just off the A38, just outside the village of Kennford, between the junctions with the A379 & A380. Booking is essential (some pitches will be booked in advance by us). There are two pubs within walking distance(!) and a cafe close by. The site is run by a couple of bikers so a warm welcome is assured.

They say that God created Yorkshire, but if he did, he was only copying the beautiful Northumberland countryside of which Hadrian’s Wall is a major historical feature and that is why we return to the Windshiels Farm Camp Site, Military Road, Bardon Mill, Hexham. Telephone No. 01434 344234. A small but friendly site, with all the usual amenities. Only 400 metres away from the campsite there is a public house called The Twice Brewed, Map: run by pleasant and efficient staff. This pub Pub Website: gave us excellent meals and the use of a room at the rear to run our notorious quiz. The pub also does B&B, for the anti-camping brigade, at good rates. 8 Sussex Run. (COUNTRY CRUISING NEMO STYLE)
Weather Report:
Captain Nemo’s country cruising around the much maligned Sussex countryside. A county by reputation gridlocked with London traffic, but in reality a most beautiful part of rural England, once off the beaten track. The run will be a selection of thatched cottages, country inns, woodland and the rolling downs of the Home Counties.

A seven day tour around The Highlands aimed primarily at those who have not yet sampled the delights of Scottish roads and scenery, but will also please those who have. Tour will include seven nights pre-booked accommodation in quality hotels/inns on a bed & breakfast basis using double, twin and single rooms (nb: some solo riders will be sharing a twin). Runs on some of the most stunning roads with awe inspiring landscape, visits to interesting, out of the way places + good evening socials.

This is now one of the must do runs. Rides through the Yorkshire Dales, wander into the lovely town of Masham and sample the produce of the two local breweries. Excellent camping again is at the brilliant Old Station Holiday Park (Tel: 01765 689569) which is situated on the A6108 just outside the town centre (3/4 mile). Campsite Details. Campsite Map. 4 - 6 FJOC 15th Anniversary Celebration Weekend. Coalbrookdale (Ironbridge) Shropshire.

In 2008 FJOC will be 15 years old. For this special event we have arranged exclusive use of a youth hostel for the weekend (so no tents required). There will be the usual rideouts both days led by Penguin as well as evening entertainment, including live music and a disco, all under the one roof plus a few surprises.
It will take place at the Coalbrookdale Youth Hostel (1 Paradise, Coalbrookdale, Telford, Shropshire, TF8 7NR) which is housed in the imposing 19th century Literary & Scientific Institute, set in its own grounds and in a fantastic historic setting (http://www.escape-to.co.uk/view_property.php?id=967). Following a refurbishment, the hostel offers superb bunkbed accommodation, please note rooms will be shared with a maximum of 8 persons per room (majority of rooms are 4 bed though), with most of the rooms ensuite, so please indicate your preferred room mate(s) upon application. The hostel provides all bed linen but you’ll need to bring your towel.
Keeping costs to a minimum, we can offer a fantasitc price for 2 nights bed and breakfast (cooked by the FJ team) at only £40 per person for FJOC members (£50 for non members). Camping is not possible on site, alternative B&B accommodation is available in the nearby town (contact Kerry or Richie for details), however for non-hostel residents a charge of £5 per person will be made. There will also be a special event t-shirt available for £10 each, please order with application.
So if you’d like to join us then booking is essential, applications will start from 1 January 08 untill 29 February 08. Places are limited so will be allocated on a 1st come, 1st served basis (no exceptions). So book early to avoid disappointment.

Based again in Crickhowell (nr Abergavenny). We return again to the Riverside Campsite just off the A40 in the town. Camping, with a pub but a few yards away, makes an excellent location. Turn left at the Shell Garage to the Riverside Camp Site on the right, where we will experience a warm and friendly welcome from our host Campsite location. 2 / 3 The Alternative North Wales.
Weather Report:
A return to North East Wales, hopefully with last years beautiful weather. Rides through the area of North Wales bypassed by most in their rush for Snowdonia, the green, scenic bit through the Clwydian hills of Flintshire and Denbighshire. Runs through the backroads, over the moors and woodlands of the area. Great scenery, green hills instead of Snowdonia rocks. Interesting Roads and the usual fine company. Camping is at the Quarryfield Campsite on the outskirts of Tarporley (yes, I know that's not in Wales!). Situated on the A51 (from Chester), 200yds before the roundabout junction with the A49, north of the town. Campsite Tel. 07720 664106 (Ellis Degavino). The now legendary weekend organised by The Owl. This arguably one of the best weekends we do. Saturday and Sunday morning full English breakfast available, brought to you by that stupendous team of Penguin, Denis, Ming, Dave and Peter. With leafy Warwickshire at its finest, there will be runs on the Saturday and the Sunday, departing from the campsite at Henley in Arden Cricket Club on the A340 800 yards south of Henley Map. . For the B&B'ers see Here. Friday night fish and chip supper, Saturday night wining and dining (for some read, 'eating and getting legless' here). This run is always heavily subscribed and is enjoyed by all as a quality relaxing week end, spoilt only by that damn Penguin and his quiz!

Aug 28 -Sept 9 France. MOMENTOUS MOUNTAINOUS MOMENTS
This is a week long trip using the tried and tested Etap or Formule 1 hotels.
Will head south mainly on ‘D’ roads avoiding main towns and built up areas as much as possible. Route yet to be finalised but looking at travelling down through the Massif Central and to the Pyrenees. By this time of year most of the tourists have gone so we get the stunning scenery and brilliant roads to ourselves.
Will use the Portsmouth / Caen or St Malo overnight crossing depart Friday evening August 29th and return Sunday September 7th Calais / Dover

We return again to the splender that is Whitby. Campsite at Beacon Farm, Beacon Way, Sneaton, Whitby, YO22 5HS. Tel. 01947 605212. Location Map: Campsite: The site is 3.2 miles from Whitby centre and offers all onsite amenities such as shop, tearoom (where breakfast and possibly evening meals will be available). The village pub has good beers, meals and does B&B (5 en suite rooms), tel. 01947 602552. The Wilson Arms: Please note that in previous years people have found that the Wilson Arms B&B will not take bookings for a single night, so an alternative B&B will need you be found if you only want to stay for one night, however Alan has already made a block booking at the campsite so campers will be OK. Both runs start from the campsite. 10am meet,11am leave.
Directions from Whitby: Take the A171 signposted Middlesborough. At the 'Four Lanes Roundabout' turn left onto the B1416 signposted Ruswarp. Ride through Ruswarp, over the blue iron bridge and follow the road up the hill. After approx one mile, turn left into Beacon Way. The Farm and The Wilson Arms are at the far end of the village on the left side.
Directions from Scarborough: Take the A171 signposted Whitby. After several miles you will see a turning to the left, signposted Ruswarp. Follow this road for approx two miles untill you reach the village of Sneaton and turn right into Beacon Way. The Farm and The Wilson Arms are at the far end of the village on the left side.

New campsite is opposite the Manifold Inn which is in Hulme End. This is found on the B5054 which runs from the A514 midway between Buxton and Ashbourne. It can also be accessed from the B5053 whis runs from the A523 leek to Ashbourne road. Pub & Campsite Map:

This has to be one of must do runs as the routes that Gordon takes us on are magnificent both for rideing and the scenery. One additional feature in the area, after last years 'incident' with Penguin, is that the council have removed all the corner chevron signs and replaced them with 'Beware of low flying Suzukis' sign posts.
Runs on both days start from the Manifold Inn. Meet 10.00 to leave prompt at 11.00.

11 / 12 Cornwall
Weather Report:
Autumn will soon be with us and yet the weather usually holds out in Cornwall at this time of year. We will be staying in the village of Mevagissy, a delightful part of the southern peninsular. Camping is available as are caravans.
The site amenities, such as the clubhouse and shop, will be closed in October (unfortunatly) although showers and toilet facilities will of course be open.
Mevagissy is a picture book Cornish fishing village with a goodly number of pubs and there is an excellent eaterie within yards of the site.

Runs on both days start from the campsite. Both runs will take in a mixture of country and coastal roads.

26 Suffolk. (One day)

A gallop around the wilds of Suffolk. Meet at the Tesco car park/cafe on the A12 at Martlesham, about three miles north east of Ipswich.
Tesco's is 100yds off the roundabout on the A12and can be seen clearly from the road. It is opposite the BP garage. MAP:
Finish is on the junction of the A140/A14 about 6 miles north west of Ipswich. Lunch stop will be at one of the few pubs that Pope hasn't been banned from.
This run is always interesting as there are some great roads and interesting places in this county.

2 Portsmouth. Downs and the Sea.(Boats not Bikes) (One Day)

The last club run of the year, for last two years it has been rained off and we have only reached the half way point. Third time lucky we will complete the whole run this time!
Start of the run will be from historic Portsmouth, from Sainsbury’s Car Park in Farlington. Location Map: Starting at sea level and ending up on the Downs.
Directions: From the west M27 towards Portsmouth do not take the M257 but carry onto the A27, exit Portsmouth east A2030. 1st left at roundabout (to Farlington) turn right at 2nd set of lights (signed ‘Superstore’) and right again into Sainsbury’s Car Park.
Directions: From east and north (A3) A27 exit Portsmouth east A2030. 3rd exit at roundabout (to Farlington) and then as above.
Café in Sainsbury’s opens at 0930 on Sundays.
